for the fuzzy tingle times!

Tomorrow is my final deadline for this big job I've been working on, so instead of getting my ass down to the printers like I should be (would do it tomorrow but it's "Australia Day" and they'd be closed) I decided to start celebrating and post my favorite thing on youtube: a small part of The Mighty Boosh crack fox episode.

I'm obsessed with this (I even called my blog after it) I'm such a loser that I could probably quote every line, quoting the crack fox is a regular activity at home. So this is the other Foxy Man, with the ridiculously cute voice.

another D.i.Y (cheating again)

Sorry, another oldie but have been working too much to attempt any d-i-y's lately! This one me and my friend Christiana did last year when we had two nights - we left it 'till the last minute - to work on a 5 piece collection for the salvos where you get old shit from the op shop (thrift store) and remake it into something that could be considered "contemporary fashion".
best thing $5(aud) can get you: part 2

spiderman

This awesome spiderman costume top for a kid (in a big kid size) from Savers for $3.99. Had this one for a while now and I can't really remember wearing it - not that I mind though, I seem to have a thing for collecting crazy clothes that i specifically will not wear. The outfit picture is from an old blog I use to do with a friend that I've mentioned in a previous post - we would borrow other people to dress them up in our clothes as our alter egos.

NEWCOUCH

me and boyfriend scored this awesome couch at our local op shop for $50!!! so good, have been looking for a couch for a while now but too bad for me that I have to move out soon :(

strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

a while ago, I went through a stage of trying to collect medicinal corsets , lost heart though cause all the ones I found were a few sizes too big... BUT when I discovered this one (in my size) randomly in my old room (I swear to god, it just appeared) I got a bit excited and thought I'd try it on with a couple of other random undergarments.

i love this picture, and it's its 2nd birthday in March so about time it makes another appearance. That and I have no time to do a real post. I'm pissed off: 1. my best friend broke her leg because a fucking 5 x 5 meter door fell on her at work a week and half before we're all going away 2. it should be my bed time but i have to stay up all night doing a job i have to email through by tomorrow morning 3. i'm still scarred with the image of this disgusting bogan from the suburbs that kept coming up on stage at SixFtHick gig and flashing everyone (i admit it was kind of funny the first time) He kept getting booted off back into the audience by one of the frontmen but somehow felt the need to keep coming up onto the stage to expose himself. loser

clockworkorange

I just got so lucky with google images! The bottom three photos are from a L'uomo Vogue editorial, shot by Max Vadukul, that I eventually found after typing in "a Clockwork Orange". Kind of bummed that I missed this shoot... but L'uomo is a bit hit and miss for me, so I don't always pick it up. Pic above is a screenshot from the film.

BIZARRE1
bizarre3

How good are these? They are from John Willie's Bizarre magazine - a taboo publication which was published irregularly during the 40s and 50s and could only be bought by mail order. It was the first magazine of its kind. The content gets a whole lot darker than the images above - with full blown gimpery and 'sexual' torture - there was pretty much no sexual preference or activity that wasn't discussed.

The stylistic elements of the images from Bizarre pretty much go hand in hand with how bondage and sexual fetishism is represented today in lighter contexts such as a fashion publication or collection - another reason we should be thankful for the existence of these images - they are an obvious reference source of information and inspiration to the most influential fashion magazines, photographers, stylists, clothing and shoe designers. \ and most bondage seems to be one of those things that will never go away as far as a popular fashion aesthetic is concerned.

best thing $5(aud) can get you: part 1

ring

a tailoring thimble - $3.50 - makes the best ring. Obviously it differs from a standard thimble in that it doesn't have the top head part. You're meant to wear it on the tip of your finger but I discovered if you get one 3 sizes bigger, you can wear it as a ring. I had this idea that I could get 10, one for each finger and thumb but I know that the man that owns Harvey's Tailoring supplies in Melbourne is very traditional and would probably start asking questions that I can't be bothered justifying, so not sure how to go about it yet.

GOD

One of the best Rock n Roll songs I've ever heard by Melbourne band GOD. It's one of those songs that I think I'll NEVER get over, and it still thrills me to this day that they were from the same suburb as where I live. They were all about 15 or 16 at the time too. The lyrics of this song are incredible, as is the guitar riff which is played over and over again throughout the duration of the song (it's ridiculously, fuck off good).  Unfortunately two of the members have died from heroin overdoses. The other two still play gigs with other bands (HOSS and Bored!) down the road from me.

Nick the Stripper

Another MMM post - but I just couldn't resist. I saw THIS  short film (and I really recommend you click on it) by Nick Knight and Ruth Hogben on SHOWstudio. Not only is it visually mouth watering and highly expressive (wouldn't expect anything less from Showstudio), but it pays homage to one of my personal favorite pieces out of all the SS09 collections. Read the text that accompanies the film and it pretty much explains why. Also: would just like to add how much this jacket annoys me. It's one of those things, just like a lot of Margiela's work, that is so brilliant and once you see it in front of you, you kick yourself for not thinking of it first. Clearly I'm overestimating my abilities here, but I guess that's the mastership of Martin Margiela - concepts that in retrospect seem so obvious, but obviously no one else thought of them first.

Some screen shots via SHOWstudio.

I'm cheating a little with this one because it's about 2 years old now, but I found it at my parent's house the other day and it doesn't really offend me now so thought I'd post it. Not really sure what it is but at the time I made it, it was supposed to hook on to this body harness/ cage thing I was working on for uni. It's made out of a few random chains I found around the house which I then sprayed white and connected all together.

I WANNA WEAR YOU

Yes I do, but I can't. I can barely do ten steps without almost stacking. Picked these up about 2 years ago from Camberwell Market for $10 - back when it was filled with cool old shit that people didn't want anymore instead of piles of ugly "vintage" dresses from professional "vintage" sellers. The pic is from an old blog I use to do called Viktorvoid, it died prematurely but I will post some pics from it soon.
