Oh Iggy! Yay! Must be a coincidence, but when you posted Mother, I had just finished listening to it (okay, I actually listen to this song like 10x a day so...). Now I'm listening to Search and Destroy. Too funny.
I agree. Rock is not the same. My favorite songs are all older. I still listen to a lot of current rock music, but it's not the same (with the exception of a few such as Muse and NIN).
Going back to your comment, subculture totally isn't the same as it used to be. Subculture discussion is a can of worms for me. Once I start, I have a hard time shutting up. I have a lot of different, and some times contradictory views on it. So yeah. Anyways, I completely agree with you. There isn't really a cause. But from my knowledge the only subcultures to really have a cause were punks, skinheads, riot grrls, hippies and rastafarians. A lot of the other subcultures seem more aesthetic and musical ways of expressing frustration of the working class. I suppose maybe Emo is the same? I just figured that the whole manufactured thing comes from a lack of access?
PS. Yep, I live in OC. I've never seen THE OC as I refused to watch it, so I don't know if the show is accurate. I live in southern Orange County which is basically like Laguna Beach and the Real Housewives of Orange County. Central and northern OC are a bit different. Central OC has produced some cool rock bands. Southern OC has produced reality television stars. great.
^^ PPS: that was the longest comment i've ever written in my life ever. wow so dorky! Also, just wanted to add in that the reason why I like your blog so much is the authenticity. Its not your trendy girl's blog that happens to be following the rocker look. It's the real fuckin' deal.

If it has to be lip synching, I'd much rather it be obvious and honest. What a performance!
