Scary Monsters, Super Creeps

Book #2: Cult Rock Posters. The title is self explanatory.

I seriously didn't know which ones to pick for the blog, there are so many good ones. A few of these are pretty recognizable, some not so much. My favorite is probably the Sex Pistols Pretty Vacant poster, I think it's genius, and The Heartbrakers (supported by Siouxsie and the Banshees). The Anarchy in the U.K Sex Pistols poster should also get a mention - it was a BIG FUCKING DEAL when that image first came out - really too bad that Motely Crue decided to come out and taint the bloody song with their own rendition of 'Anarchy in the U.S.A'... would have been a sad moment.

Anyway, here are my favorites!!!

Love this, but makes me a bit sad - I left the most incredible/horrifying old plasmatics concert poster back in san francisco...it really looked like a nightmare popping out.

Ah fantastic! Loving the Cramps one and the Pistols posters are just sublime.
I had some excellent Ramones tour posters from when I went to see them a few times back in the 80's. Some were bought post-gig and others ripped off the venue walls! Long gone now sadly.
Gosh, I really must try and get this book. I could use some design inspiration.

i couldn't begin to choose my favourite but seeing the new york dolls reminds me of their whole lipstick logo: i love that! im planning a kind-of-diy with it when im not feeling so lazy, in black and neon pink woo!

this is so rad! the sex pistols posters will always be my favorites. i find them to "say" the most without really saying anything. my brother in law has some in his music room at the office, and i always threaten to steal them when he's not around.

Hey Foxy, you seem like the right person to ask about this... do you know of any photo books of rock audiences? I totally feel like I've seen one or two on some blog but I can't think of titles...

Looks like a great book. I'll definitely have to see if I can find it somewhere.
