Heyyy everyone!!! So sorry for the absence! What a week it has been, really couldn't find it in me to blog but am so excited to be back! Before I go on any further, I just want to say a huge THANK YOU and hello to everyone that has just recently found the blog!!! I appreciate your comments sooo much and read each one with the excitement of a giddy lil' kid. Will make sure to check out all your blogs and write back!

It's almost three in the morning, and as usual I can't sleep (ps. why is it that more, and more people I know have sleeping problems these days? argghhh!) so thought I'd post these photos of my ex-bedside table for no reason other than that it just doesn't exist anymore. My grandma moved house the other week, and a certain hand-me-down resulted in me upgrading to a bigger and better wooden dresser instead of this pissy thing! Lucky, because it couldn't even accommodate to my family of faux taxidermy bunnies, let alone a sea of other important objects I find necessary keeping as close to my head as possible while sleeping.

Could not have spent the first two days of the year in better form if I tried... and to think I was even hesitating about going from being way too hung over after NYE! Not going to lie, the drive there almost killed me considering the state I was in, but it was all worth it in the end. One of my many new years resolutions is to stop saying no, stop second guessing situations... and especially myself, and realize that happiness is a choice which is totally in my hands.

Thank you Jemma for asking me to come up that day, and for being my angel as well as the best example of how a human should look at, and live their life (I'm not going to go into the reason and situation, but this girl is a fucking hero) and thank you to Chris and Ben for your incredible hospitality. The boat rocked, so did the food! I had a ball! Once again, here's to 2012!!!

Bit of a filler post here, but trying to attempt to document as much of what I wear as I can, so here are some photos of my outfit from the Melbourne Topshop launch. This outfit will never look the same again without the neon yellow hair, which sucks cause I really wanted to get proper photos of it where you could see what was going on! Damn this green needs to fade already. Also, I know look like such a douche bag hiding my face like that but it's become an almost automatic reaction as soon as I see a camera. Another thing I'm going to have to get myself sorted on this year!

oops dropped me jacket

Nothing beats a duster/long jacket/cardigan/kimono - the perfect items that can even transform sequin underwear and lingerie into an appropriate outfit (well at least in my head). I'm OBSESSED with this silk chiffon duster we did for DI$COUNT, it even comes complete with intricate angel wing embroidery on the back!!!! Coming to the shop in a couple of weeks... and in black too!

MY TEESHIRT OBSESSION

One of my many obsessions is acquiring old amazing teeshirts and thrashing the fuck out of them - as you can see in the following photos, they're not all in exactly the best condition, but I definitely believe that tees get better with age and wear. I really don't think I'm capable (or wanna be) of liking many things half-heartedly... so when I'm onto something I love, I tend to love it OBSESSIVELY... all or nothing! I've been collecting vintage tees for years now, and constantly seem to find myself either buying or selling them... kinda like trading cards or something. I do have conditions though... I'm not one to go on ebay and pay over $100 for a sweet design... usually try and stay under about $20 (inc shipping, haha) cause it's way more fun that way!!!

Here are my absolute favorites that I will never let go of! Sad that quite a few others that I love couldn't be included due to being lost in my room/car/garage/friends house/etc.

Hey hey! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

I'm so happy this post is finally up! It's seriously hard work putting together the short version of a travel diary! Definitely not an easy task trying cull something close to a thousand photos into twenty five (haha, yep, I counted!) ...but considering I was in Paris in July, it probably took me a little longer than it should have! Better late than never, so here are some photos of this beautiful city through my eyes...

INSPIRATION: JAMES BIDGOOD

I'm so excited about this post!!! ...what makes it better is that off the top of my head, I can think of a couple of friends out there (James and Adele, I'm def talking bout YOU!) who will share my love for it! Hope you do too...

It's always a sweet day when you find out about someone you should have always known about, but never did. I came across James Bidgood's work not long ago when he was cited in some article as inspiration/reference for both Pierre et Gilles and David Lachapelle - all of who I greatly admire - so naturally, I was curious to learn more.

Bidgood has been named the "father of the pulp and glamour aesthetic" so what I find to be the best thing about the following images is not exactly what they look like (even though they're absolutely WONDERFUL) but the fact that each image is on average about 50 years old,and came out before an aesthetic like this (or photoshop) actually existed. INNOVATOR!!!

From the book I bought about him:
"As out of date as his preciosity may be in erotic media, its sensibility has found its way into more mainstream channels. The hypnogogic imagery of today's rock videos parallels Bidgood's penchant for building narrative by visual associations. Pierre et Gilles, the French team of photographers who are known for their opaque pseudo-portraits of celebrities and beautiful men, have borrowed aspects of Bidgood's iconography. But for better or worse, the use of digital photography by these new image-makers has permanently outmoded the methods to which Bidgood resorted for his effects."

Yesterday's outfit... old black jeans that I wear all the time (Savers), lace bustier that I wear all the time (ebay), Destroy boots that I wear literally every day (ebay), leather bag from Rome, falling apart sequined and beaded jacket that was a dress that I cut down the middle (on sale at this closing down costume shop for $25!)

Spent my friday night at Chadstone (The Fashion Capital) with one of my best mates, Adele... she's got a ridiculously awesome blog which you should check out !!!HERE!!!!) Thought it would be a good idea cause it was really hot yesterday and Chaddy's got aircon, but it actually turned out to be a really fun night out at the fashion capital!! Typically, the best shit got the most of our attention... food and lingerie.

Look what came in the mail today!!! Scored this sweet velvet halter on ebay last week for $15! Backless beaded amazingness! ...such a of fan of it, and the idea of wearing it this summer paired with a billion bangles, rings and necklaces!

I thought my new DI$COUNT DEADSTOCK mesh top that we found on a recent sourcing trip would look really cool with on this mirrored mannequin then realized it actually looks way better on a body where you can actually tell what's going on! It really is incredible, and we have a few similar ones (as well as a billion new other AMAZING pieces of deadstock) coming to the SHOP soon!!!

Just got back from a really fun night which started off at the Melbourne Topshop launch and ended up in a drive out to Burwood Coles (this huge 24 hour supermarket in Melbourne Suburbia) to hang out and eat in a closed down food court with two of the coolest people in existence! ...still got a huge smile on my face and way too excited to go to bed, so naturally I couldn't pass up on some 2am blogging!

I have a collection - more like an obsession - with rings that I can't help but keep adding to. I don't always wear rings out, but when I choose to wear them, picking which ones I'll wear is sometimes kinda harder than choosing my outfit. As you can tell from tonight's selection, sometimes I get way too over excited and can readily pile up 2 or 3 on one finger...

I HATE THE HOT!!! and my sweet Cavalli pants

Not generally a fan of summer outfits... give me all the good shit (good shit being leather, fur, velvet, boots, heaps of layers etc.) anyday, haha! I got these pants a few months ago, and somehow they made the whole summer dressing thing a lot easier and way more enjoyable. These were taken in Rome in July, and while the outfit doesn't really feel very 'me' - dressing yourself out of the same suitcase for a month straight, you tend to loose your creativity a little - I couldn't imagine anything better for walking around under the hot Italian sun all day. Sidenote: my parents are soldiers!! We were out for like 12 hours straight, (10am to 10pm vibe) most days. Thanks lovely mother for the photos. XOXO.

Perhaps it’s time to tell y’all what we’re really doing here. We’ve been putting this post off – for reasons we’re not really sure of – maybe to give us time to try and thrash out exactly how we could ‘package our vision’ (lol) – in a way that makes it easier for both you and us to understand. Things are moving and changing, and it’s clear to us that now is the time to divulge our motivations for this blog, our desires for the near future and basically about what this whole DI$COUNT thing is all about… The blog thus far has felt as if it is simply scratching the surface of something that is about to be much, much, much more…

We only met at the beginning of 4th year – the final year of the fashion design degree at RMIT University. The course is pretty much a total mind-fuck for all involved, but even more so for those that don’t necessarily want to sit and ‘suck the RMIT teat’. Both us found we had begun to create things that had no ‘typical’ “contextualization” as outlined in the brief, and the fashion system that was being preached was something that as much as we tried, we both couldn’t seem to relate to. The kind of work we were producing was generally pigeon-holed – gallery floor or editorial (so nothing in particular, and especially no financial stability), and the job prospects circulated around internships, and working for other people – climb the ladder style shit – which of course is absolutely brilliant for some, but simply not what excited either of us.

Both of us have been, for quite some time, pretty hard into technology and online communication. In fact, we both wrote our thesis last year on topics that revolved around the future of online creativity, dissemination, showcasing and communication. This probably has a lot to do with how limiting it can feel to be in the Australian market, not only feeling isolated on a geographical scale, but also having inverted seasons to the rest of the world (obviously with climate change, amongst many other things, seasons are becoming increasingly irrelevant). Through use of the Internet, we gain access to rest of the world instantly, it closes the gap between trends in what are considered the ‘fashion mecca’s’ of the world and our own local trends. We’re increasingly moving towards larger scale global trends because information is so instantly passed through channels around the world. Through online retail, and the ability to buy from anywhere in the world, we’re now able to choose season/trend/culture/style – irrespective of location. The fashion market has been cut up the guts, and the playing field is much vaster and more diverse than ever before, though simultaneously, it has created even ground. Money is not nearly as huge of an advantage where it used to be. To start up a conventional label you need capital (for maintaining retail space, stock etc), whilst by using the net, anyone can enter the market and gain interest and momentum through the use of various online communication systems. (Although we have to note here, that of course, there are many well known celebrities, blogs and labels etc that have succeeded from cash and access not talent… it just gives a better voice and platform to the little guy)

All these things were going through our heads during the course of our graduate year, and we were increasingly under the realization that our work and outcomes didn’t really fit within the traditional Australian fashion market. Another thing we know is that we are really lucky to be doing this at this very time, because some years ago we wouldn’t be in such a position. The current fashion system is outdated – NOW IS THE TIME TO CHALLENGE IT and recreate the framework.

The evolution of the online consumer has superseded the industry’s pace. In essence, we recognize that the traditional fashion system lags even in comparison to the counterfeit one. If you acknowledge that collections are designed (give or take) 6 months before the images of them are released and then available for purchase a further 6 months later, it becomes transparent that with the evolution of the web and democratization of citizen journalism, in the form of the blog, this system is outdated.

If you compare this to how these images were originally distributed in the form of magazines and certain authoritative websites, it is important to acknowledge that the amount of outlets that have now become available for this dissemination has multiplied beyond belief, resulting in infinite saturation of the trend. It is not uncommon that imitation products are released even before the initial design. We all know what happened to the infamous Balmain jacket, the images were released months before the physical jacket was available, and then Zara and Topshop copies were retailed even before the original. The internet is propelling the organic, traditional flow of fashion, and it’s eclipsing the system it exists in.

We came up with DI$COUNT because we refused to change our ideals to fit into the system.
Our idea of fashion stretches beyond just clothing.
We don’t want to focus on just our love of clothing. It’s kind of irrelevant nowadays because of the democratization of media and advertising, and also how autodidactic learning through the internet has provided the means for people to teach themselves the skills they need without necessarily studying it specifically – meaning you can create your own brand without the cost, limitations on genre/field – cross disciplinary work is becoming easier and more expected, to be a ‘jack of all trade’s’ etc. Fashion is becoming an ambiguous term; it was never exclusively applicable to just clothing, yet was popularized by the clothing system to the point where most of us seem to have a hard time remembering what the word actually means.

We were taught a way of designing clothing and a way of existing as a designer in today’s society, which in most cases, other than if you were to enter at a really high level, don’t offer much opportunity. The fashion education system (at least what we were exposed to), didn’t show us all the options – it was closed minded and traditional and taught a specific way to be a designer, through forcing concepts and fitting in to certain systems. The web has created new channels, we’ve seen it change the music industry and print journalism, and of course it is therefore inevitable that it is changing fashion.

DI$COUNT allows us freedom. We’re designing our own place in the system. It’s through the subversion of, the fucking with the fashion framework, that DI$COUNT was developed, and the output is steeped in humour and irony, cliché and imitation.
DI$COUNT is a brand, an idea, an image, a dialogue, a strategy, a transformation, a design, this blog, a motion picture, a label, a personality, a website, a quote, a garment, an emotion and an evolution.

OBESITY + SPEED

It's a challenge to catch me wearing something that is not black and loose, so considering this, I think I owe more than many thanks to Lyz + Josh - the awesome designers behind OBESITY + SPEED!!! They are definitely the ones that were behind (my) Christmas coming early last year, sending some amazing shit my way - all the way to Australia too! This makes it extra special!

If we're going to be honest, I've actually struggled to keep all the pieces in my possession - boyfriend has already claimed the zebra number (hopefully temporarily!) ...agrees that it is quite possibly the best cut neckline EVER. Anyway, I'm anal as anything when it comes to a good tee - I take note on everything from the perfect thinness of the fabric, to the actual cut (needs to be loose without making you look frumpy!) ...I know most people wouldn't think there was much science in a tee shirt, BUT THERE IS!!! I probably seem nuts, but I wear big tee shirts so much that I can't help but notice this shit. It's like the ones you wear for so long, and then finally the colour fades, the stitches un-ravel and the fabric becomes so thin that it starts to ladder - you know those ones? They are tee shirt perfection. (sorry it's 3.30 in the morning, why do I always blog at ridiculous times of the night?) Anyway, point is, if Lyz and Josh can make a new shirt be as flattering as one of your old favorites, then CLEARLY they know what they're doing!!!

PS: Anyone living in Melbourne knows how ridiculously, FUCKING HOT the weather has been lately... lucky for me, I took advantage of Cami hanging out at my house and asked her to take these photos for me (which in themselves, I think are SWEET). Lucky I did, cause it allowed me to take a break from my usual 'set the camera on timer and run' style of outfit documentation that I'm so use to. Also meant that I could hang out in a bath tub with soaking wet clothes and hair, conveniently allowing me to 'kill two birds with one stone' - so to speak, and fit in a fun blog-o-shoot, while simultaneously keeping cool!!! YES.

SMASHBOX - CAMI'S GRADUATE COLLECTION

I've been staring at this post all fuckin night - by now it's been in my drafts for more like a week, thinking of what I could possibly write about this talented lady to somehow do her justice. I've finally come to the conclusion that it probably doesn't matter what I write, because the shoot absolutely speaks for itself. Everything about the collection is outstanding - the design, technique and execution - it's hard to believe one person managed to pull this off, by themselves, in such a short amount of time! There were some remarkable collections in our graduating year, but Cami no doubt stood out like nothing else, and I'm proud to call her my business partner!!!

everything's different in the world of me!

In reference to a couple of comments from the post below, would just like to confirm that the name for my blog was completely inspired by an episode of The Mighty Boosh - The Crack Fox! When I started foxyman I was (clearly!) obsessed with this particular Boosh episode and watched it countless times. I find the crack fox character to be ridiculously cute and endearing... but obviously a bit of a fruity too. PIG Magazine

Stop trying to auto-correct 'colour' American program, I refuse to spell it 'color'

I am LOVING this post (who even says that about their own posts) I reckon by the time this next year is out, we will all be sick to hell of all the fashion mags featuring coloured hair all over their pages, but for now, let's enjoy! I gots to admit, the ones who will really suffer are those that have 'been doing it for years before it became a trend'. Usually, I'd feel sorry... but in this instance, I will be the first to admit - I don't care! I want to see this EVERYWHERE I look until it's completely fucking dead!!!

By the way, has anyone ever noticed how fast trends occur? First you start noticing it subtly - say, on some emo kid on Flinders street with 12 facial piercings and bright blue hair... then in a Tim Burton editorial where you catch yourself focussing on a hair colour rather than the elusive Nina Ricci hoofs... you start thinking about how great it looks, but how you, yourself, could never pull it off! Next thing you know, you're trying on wigs and searching the internet for dye, completely obsessed with the idea of having bright orange hair!!!! I swear, everything always starts off belonging to a very specific context - whether it's a fashion editorial, an era, a subculture, or whatever else... and no matter how untouchable it might seem at first, we always find a way to rape it and make it normal. Monday

We were all about taking photos on Monday, missing only the very last bit of the day. Warning: there are way too many images in this post, I'm not even really into it... but clearly I'm real bad at editing.

Headed down to the studio at the start of the day and painted a wall. It was a bit of a struggle, but we pulled through in the end:

Outfit shots! Cami is wearing a black bonds wife beater (not hers exactly, but acquired so good as hers) black leggings, black amazing acne jacket (bitch) and the most incredible boots ever that I'm trying to swap her my whole wardrobe for but it's not working haha (bitch x 11242421143, just kidding) and all sorts of jewelry

My outfit! Nothing special, sorry. I often mention on this blog that my outfits are never very good in my day to day life, and when I go out I just look like an 80s hooker (sorry mum for writing this kind of stuff, but you know it's true) It's probably not what people look for in a 'fashion' blog, which is why I hardly have outfit posts. I've toyed with the idea of doing more consistent 'hypothetical' outfit posts, just like the ones I've done in the past, but admittedly they do make me feel like a bit of a real big knob. I do really enjoy making up outfits that I'd never have the balls to wear, so maybe I will give it a bit more thought.

Anyway, I am wearing Misfits die die my darling old shirt, black tights, black denim shorts (you can't see them but they're there) and docs.

I do this really neat trick with my hair where I can put it up in a bun right on top of my forehead and it looks like a hair turban. Hard to explain, but it looks hell Prada. Here I am getting ready for it... one day I will share it

Next we decided to do some work. We managed to write about a quarter of our 'comprehensive to-do list' which I can't share because it's top secret!

Not much time passed until we realized that Vlad was coming over for a visit, so we went to meet him at the tram stop. It was his birthday the day before, and as he was walking towards us I ran away to buy him a little somethin from the nearest Asian grocery store. I realized when I got there, I had limited monetary resources in my pocket (nah, more like limited monetary resources period!) so I could only get him a pack of pocky, a push pop, and some grape goo. Sorry Vlad, but remember... it's the thought that counts, and obviously there was a lot of thought put into your present! See below for images of Vlad enjoying his grape goo. He doesn't want to admit it, but I could tell he was really into it, because I saw him bust it out a few times during the rest of the evening.

I forgot to mention that Vlad is also from Russia, and since there aren't many of us here in Australia, me and him bonded over our Russian-ness. He shared some left overs with us from his family birthday dinner the day before. I felt totally in my food comfort zone... apart from the Chicken loaf, I don't know what that was all about... had it been meat jelly I would have completely understood though.

If you're in Melbourne and looking for something to do on Thursday evening, come along. If you can't make it, the gallery will also be open on Friday from 12 till 8.

Went in the other day to check out the room Cami chose for us... It's an old hotel that has been turned into an amazing gallery space. She took me to around to see all of the other rooms first - very nice; white walls and heaps of light - then finally down this corridor to our room. See photos below...

....AMAZING!!!! Besides the fact that it kind of resembles a jail cell and is twice as big as the other rooms, it also has this really heavy death aura that I don't really know how to articulate... kind of made me nauseous too (but everything seems to make me nauseous). Anyway, this is probably starting to seem a bit sarcastic, but I'm dead serious! Best room! Start setting up tomorrow morning, will post 'after' images too

Today while in the city, me and HAYLEY couldn't resist doing a blogoshoot with the self timer. Shoez (again)

Hey everyone, bet you didn't expect me to post again so soon! Just another post about shoez! These are my newest acquisition - cow hair ankle boots by Tony Lama (90s I'm sure) they are from a huge vintage shop called Retrostar in Melbourne. Am I slowly becoming the poor man's Sea of Shoes???!!! haha

Also, PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW if you are a fan of chunky 90s boots/shoes and creepers, have a general appreciation for ugly-cool shoes, or if you enjoy some fucking funny australian humor!!! Before I start this post, I just wanna let y'all (haha) know that I was actually meant to post something with meaning tonight (would have been a first for this blog) - something that's been really pissing me off about 'fashion' right now... anyway that didn't happen so instead you get to read about shoez!!!

I have a stupid obsession with buying ugly black 90s boots from op shops - they're cheap cheap and always available... probably because not many people seem to be very interested in them, ha! I used some gold hardware spray paint that I was using on some strap holders for my collection on a spare pair of nasty black boots - should have thought of this earlier as I've been trolling ebay for gold ankle boots for quite some time. This is an obvious DIY to try if you're into it, but careful not use that crappy art store gold spray paint - need the hardcore chrome-like shit that's used for metal and wood.

oh my god, SHOEZ

The show was on Saturday, one of the most exciting and amazing moments of my life! I'm not going to go on about my concept since there's really not much point!

All I'm going to say is that please don't think of this collection as clothing, but rather as shoes that, instead of stopping at your ankle or thigh, continue up your body. Everything is made out of leather (apart from the hard wear, platforms and lining of the black bra).

I wasn't interested in anything in it but these images. I spent $30 bucks on a few black and white low quality printed images of leather moulded gimp masks - wtf??!!! Also the best one of them all I use to have stuck on my wall in my old house, have no idea where it is now but it clearly got lost during the move. What's in my bag post

Meaning to do one of these posts for a while. I actually have a lot more pointless shit in my bag than this like wrappers and movie tickets, scraps of leather, sticky tape, 100 pens, scissors... sometimes a scrunched up piece of fabric even... but these are the basics:

1. ipod: this hardly makes it into my bag because it's usually in my hand or pocket

2. AM sunnies: make me feel like the terminator

3. black leather fingerless gloves

4. house key

5. most disgusting purse ever. kangaroo fur that's going bald

6. old nokia phone, no iphone here guys

7. Bach's rescue remedy spray. BEST.SHIT.EVER for those stress/anxiety moments

8. some kind of crystal - should probably know what it is

9. metcard (ticket for train/bus/tram)

10. moleskin and pen

11. dettol hand sanitizer so I can disinfect my hands on the go, haha

12. painkillers - because i seem to have a 24/7 headache

14. YSL mirror. really I don't actually carry this in my bag at all but I probably should... and it makes everything

MEADOWLARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously couldn't believe it when designers Claire and Greg from the amazing jewelry label MEADOWLARK contacted me. I had a look at their site and collections and the first things that I immediately thought were: this is some really impressive shit! why haven't I heard of this label? and how the f*** isn't there a Melbourne stockist??? puzzling.

As we all know the jewelry market is absolutely saturated with cheap and nasty $10 crap that either breaks or chips after two wears. I truly think great jewelry - in both design and QUALITY- is totally underestimated and it's probably something I got from my mum (who by the way has THE MOST AMAZING ring collection ever) but I really do believe in investing in great pieces that you will have and treasure for ages over something that will end up in the bottom of your drawer after a week. There are of course exceptions to this I must admit, but generally that's the way it tends to go for me.

Below you will notice two freaking incredible rings that I am now SO LUCKY to be the owner of. I've been obsessing over double rings (knuckle dusters) for a while so the studded silver one below made me freak out a little bit - it is pretty much my perfect ring. I seriously haven't been able to take it off or take my eyes off it since I got it!!! Thanks so much Claire and Greg! I am totally blown away! I just know you guys are onto a really good thing, and you should be damn proud for designing and making such beautiful pieces!

State of Mind

Tonight me and my lovely friend Natalie (hi Nat, I love saying hi to people via the blog! haha! also hi mum and dad, I'm sorry you had to find my blog, I know I don't make me look too smart on it) went to the Zoo York State of Mind Melbourne premier so she could do her snazzy WGSN reporting. It was amazing, and what made it more amazing was free pizza and beer. Wish it (both the movie and the crowd) were more metal less hip hop - I know I'm asking for too much, right? ...but having said that, the song accompanying the first skater's clips was HEART - MAGIC MAN... not exactly metal, i know, but it was TOTALLY good enough for me.

Outfit: wore this ridicules obsessed-fan-like outfit especially for Nat, because she thinks that I think I'm married to Glenn Danzig - maybe it's because every time we're out I always seem to spot some dude who bears some what of a resemblance to him, I EVEN SAW ONE TONIGHT!!! You can't see here but I also pinned a misfits badge to my jacket and one to my kangaroo fur purse just for her. Also wearing: black beanie, black tights, denim shorts, black leather cut off gloves, leopard demonia creepers and a billion layers under my jacket.

Scary Monsters, Super Creeps

Book #2: Cult Rock Posters. The title is self explanatory.

I seriously didn't know which ones to pick for the blog, there are so many good ones. A few of these are pretty recognizable, some not so much. My favorite is probably the Sex Pistols Pretty Vacant poster, I think it's genius, and The Heartbrakers (supported by Siouxsie and the Banshees). The Anarchy in the U.K Sex Pistols poster should also get a mention - it was a BIG FUCKING DEAL when that image first came out - really too bad that Motely Crue decided to come out and taint the bloody song with their own rendition of 'Anarchy in the U.S.A'... would have been a sad moment.

Dancing with the Big Boys

I've mentioned before my love for books. This post and the next are going to feature two of my favorites. Have SO much to post about, so I'm going to start with these because I've been meaning to put them up for ages, and I really need to get them out of my system.

First book, David Bowie Black Book I bought years ago - I went through a stage where I was seriously OBSESSED with Bowie, and this was such an amazing find. The whole book looks like it is printed on black paper, but perhaps the black is actually printed on white paper... that's probably it. It documents Bowie's career from '64 to '80.

Garden of Serenity

Just a quick post - off to Sydney tomorrow morning for the Triumph Inspiration Award Australian final on Tuesday! (www.triumphinspirationaward.com) So exciting! Wish I could talk about my concept but just have no time... Working with this much colour and lingerie in general (pattern making and sewing with such small parameters, especially with leather is pretty damn challenging) is really foreign to me but I'm pretty happy with the result! Can't wait to get back to working on my actual collection now. These are some shots I managed to get in at a shoot for The Herald Sun (a Melb newspaper) today. The other design is by Katinka.

HAHA!!! These are so wrong! Maybe the black ones could work if they were cut off just above the ankles? Actually, with that in mind these have grown on me quite literally in the last 2 minutes. I was just speaking to a friend on the phone while doing this post, part of the conversation went something like this: "HAHA, you should see my new post on these fake fur platform boots I found on ebay, they are so gross... ahhh.. actually I think if I chopped half of them off they'd be alright... oh my god, shit, I think I actually like them"

Wrinkled crinkled wadded dollar bill

I'm so happy I found this post card again, had no idea I still had it. Pointless story: Not too keen on Kreator, but the guitarist wears these awesome black buckle boots that I've been after for years... I got a pair on ebay once, but just my luck they were a 'men's' 8 instead of the stated women's 8 - sent them back. Also found a huge pair for $10 at the market once which I got in the hope of getting them re-made in my size and using the beautiful detailed buckles... ended giving them to manfriend and it doesn't look like I'll be getting them back. Will keep dreaming...

Post script: this post is in part dedicated to Queen of Russia (although ideally I would like to challenge you for this title haha joke, lame joke! we love the mother country) from Heavy Metal Fashion because from memory you mentioned you were a fan of Kreator, but then again I could be completely making that up!

Johnny B Good

I must be naturally attracted to trashy shit because when I saw this dress at Supre - for all those that don't live in Australia, it's pretty much the nastiest, tackiest, cheapest store we have churning out mass produced disposable rubbish like nothing else - I couldn't resist. The cut is actually pretty damn good, perhaps even good enough for me to go back and get the leopard print one too? Thinking about altering the center of the dress and adding a big silver ring a la Pretty Woman?

On another note: this happened a while back now, but I almost choked when I saw this photo on FASHIONISPOISON.blogspot.com - I don't know how the hell that fabulous girl found this photo (taken by me or friend a couple of years ago, it was on an old blog I use to have) but I had to repost it's just so fuckin dirty/wrong/funny/great haha!

Angelfuck

This is an editorial from the May 2003 V magazine. This was one of the first things i wanted to post on my blog but for some reason never got around to it. It's styled by my hands-down favorite stylist: Panos Yiapanis (he also styled the Helmut Lang gear in the post below) and shot by the incredible Inez & Vindoodh.

Panos Yiapanis no doubt has the best "stylist's own" collection I have ever seen - all the pieces in the shoots he styles that blow me away always seem to be from his own archive.

Helmut Lang

It would have been a pretty sad day when Helmut Lang left his own company in 2005. I'm not sure who's designing under his name now, I think it's some couple - from memory they might even be from Australia. This is what he said about leaving:

"The size of the company kept growing, and I had the feeling at one point that I would become the victim of my own success and get pushed further away from what I worked so hard to be able to do. I did try to do more artistic work in between, but it was not possible to be one of the main players in the fashion world and then to do art at the same time. I was ready to take a new challenge, in part because in fashion, things have become very predictable."

my whole world's breaking loose

To introduce what is probably my most inconsistent post yet, I just want to start out by saying a massive thanks to amazing Jen from GNARLITUDE for writing the nicest shit about my blog on the URBAN OUTFITTERS BLOG. I'm sure you all know her blog anyway, but if by some chance you don't, you've got to check it out HERE - I can't say enough good things about Jen, or her blog.

Went to band jam with my manfriend, alex and mad rad (haha, just thought of trashforce r. and her appreciation for his raised eyebrow) to hear what they've been working on. New drummer was absent though, and Stacey (m.f) had to play drums so I heard no lyrics. Took this photo on the way there, pretty sure I looked like some kind of paparazzo. For work reasons, I'm constantly carrying around my massive camera these days.

Night before... (my very first [and last] food post)

Haha, I had to post this picture because we obviously get 10 points for food presentation and quality of food. Basically, everything is still in it's original packaging arranged nicely on a drum stool, with a gross over flowing ashtray in the background. The wine is Sacred Hill cab merlot which is amazing because it's totally drinkable - actually tastes quite good - and costs less than $6. This is the shit you get and drink on the tram on your way to where ever you happen to be going that night. Other food includes "wild olives", 'Australian Gold' (haha, quality!) Camembert cheese and quince paste - which incidentally costs more than the wine?

a short time effect

If you have a look at my collage of things I want from ebay a few posts below, you will notice a pair of really ugly black 90s platform boots. I seriously couldn't believe my eyes when I saw pretty much the exact pair at Savers!! Then I noticed a further 3 pairs of ugly - amazing boots, and before I knew it I got all 4 pairs.

PS: they didn't come with the studded buckled boot attire they are pictured with below, already had them but could only find one of them for the photo!

This 'skirt' is actually a long sleeveless shirt that I've photographed for the blog before. I used a belt and a tacking stitch to make it a skirt for now - kind of like it so perhaps I might make one like it?

MMM x Cream

I got this Martin Margiela Cream publication last December along with the other Margiela book I posted in one of the first foxyman posts. My boyfriend thought I was crazy to pay $70 (aud) for a sealed publication, and when I decided to open it at lunch later that day I almost had a freakin' heart attack discovering that the first 200 pages or so were completely blank. As a natural reaction, I then skipped to the last pages and found that they too, were blank. Now I don't know if this was a 'trick' to make the reader think they've bought a blank publication or a practical function to make this fucker extremely difficult to scan or photograph and reproduce - either way, both were achieved.

I don't know what it is about MMM but seriously, it is the only design house that could put their name and work to a sealed collaborative publication and I will buy it without a second thought. Put it this way: if someone offered me one band to listen to for the rest of my life, I'd probably tell them to fuck off (unless of course, teleporting me back to the 70s to be at every live Zeppelin gig [and an affair with Jimmy and Plant- can't choose] was part of the offer) but offer me one designer to wear for the rest of my life, and the answer is quite clear:

not an outfit post

this was a really quick sewing job - just wanted to see the two fabric textures next to each other.

It is also highly unwearable (for me) since I've already mentioned to a few special people (hi big koshka, haha) how much it's bothering me that I look like some fucking sub culture (especially my day outfits). I'm kind of getting sick of 15 year old emo and death metal kids at Flinders street station giving me the 'hey, look, we're dressed the same' look. I LOVE KEERSTIN WINTRUP SNAKES!!!

I seriously had no words when I received these INCREDIBLE gifts from lovely and talented jewelry/accessory designer, KEERSTIN WINTRUP. For me, not much can beat the combination of leather and hardwear so in my opinion these are pretty much the perfect accessories... I probably went a bit overboard with the photo taking but there are seriously so many ways you can style and wear these these that I just couldn't help myself! The longer snakes can be worn as belts, so that's something that I will definitely try out and post about too.

MASSIVE THANK YOU to Keerstin - they are amazing and perfectly compliment the jewelry that I already use to wear... I can't stop gushing, but to say that I love them is even a massive understatement!

the KKK took my baby away

Had the best night last night! me and lovely boyfriend went to Marky Ramone's blitzkrieg with Michale Graves (90s Misfits) on vocals and two other people who I don't really know. They played all Ramones songs. It was such an awesome night - even though I almost got my neck broken a billion fuckin times by all these full grown guys climbing onto the stage, then getting thrown back by security - but it was well worth it. Was also pretty happy to score a tshirt that i found on the floor and managed to swap for a new one.

I wonder just how many people really give a fuck about what actual 'thoughts' have gone into fashion collections vs. what they actually look like.

Scan below is from LUXIRARE'S blog (in my blog roll, one of the best fashion blogs out there in my opinion). It's from the book '1000 rings'. The glove finger rings immediately stood out... probably because there was black leather and silver hardware involved...

...I had left my fingerless gloves at a restaurant not long ago so I was in the process of customizing some new ones. This seemed like the perfect idea to make sure the rest of the gloves didn't go to waste (not that i really cared, i'm not that into sustainability even though sustainability gets kind of drilled in to you at uni, I don't believe in it to the point that you're making things for the sake of making them - that just creates more waste right?!) anywayyyy this is my d.i.y of KATJA KORSAWE's amazing design, only because there's no way I can get my hands on the original.
