nadzig - love black 90s boots!

Before I start this post, I just wanna let y'all (haha) know that I was actually meant to post something with meaning tonight (would have been a first for this blog) - something that's been really pissing me off about 'fashion' right now... anyway that didn't happen so instead you get to read about shoez!!!

I have a stupid obsession with buying ugly black 90s boots from op shops - they're cheap cheap and always available... probably because not many people seem to be very interested in them, ha! I used some gold hardware spray paint that I was using on some strap holders for my collection on a spare pair of nasty black boots - should have thought of this earlier as I've been trolling ebay for gold ankle boots for quite some time. This is an obvious DIY to try if you're into it, but careful not use that crappy art store gold spray paint - need the hardcore chrome-like shit that's used for metal and wood.

haha!!! grace, i'm so glad you're back! definitely been missed... hmm about that rant.. not sure if people would actually want to hear it. It will probably make me sound like a bitter fashion psycho. Might be a funny read though!!!

Wow, those look gorgeous done up in gold -- so shiny! (I'm a magpie at heart, LOL!)
Cheers!

PS glad we "met" too, I do eventually intend to post more "old" pics as I unearth them, seem to be missing a whole bunch ): Check out one of my older posts for crazy '80's pics from NY and London.

This is so awesome! I bet they were awful before, but the gold just gives 'em a whole new lease on life.

could it be studs? anyways lovely idea, I need a pair

How did you do the zippers? I'd be worried about painting them shut!

Nadia said...

Shay, I just sprayed over them! It's pretty hard to paint a zipper shut unless you had a really thick layer of house paint of something, and even then I'm sure you could slowly pick the paint off with some fine tweezers or something :)

ugh, don't know why I didn't think of this... definitely gotta try this shit out. Your new gold boots look badass!

you'd be glad to be in nyc, its not fashion week its circus week. Oh god, and you having an opinion on the "fashion industry" does not make you a bitter fashion psycho, just a girl with a good head on her shoulders.

awesome shoes!

I vote for more ranting! But this is also pretty awesome. Have you worn them out and does the paint stay on? Because I'm just too many pairs of old crappy shoes that are just begging for a new coat of gold!

I say rant on - thats what blogs are for right?

Thanks for the tee love by the way. Totally agree, Suicidal Tendancies have some of my fave punk graphics along with Subhumans, The Cramps and of course, the Misfits.

Digging the DIY - I'm on a bit of a boot embellishing kick myself...

The end result is so cool! I tried spraying some crappy mules black once but it all ended in tears. There's a certain pleasure in taking something ugly and making them desirable.
